This is a Autopilot Panel for the Fly By Wire A320neo in Microsoft flight simulator. We used Mobiflight for the programming of the Autopilot panel.

In this project you will need

  1. An Arduino mega
  2. A bread board
  3. 3d printer
  4. Spray paint in the colour that are similar to the simulator we used (Black (021), Mikrolet blue(164) and Ves indigo Blue(2001))
  5. Jumper cables
  6. 9 Latching buttons (https://bit.ly/3LDY5yY)
  7. 4 Rotary encoders (bit.ly/3LK2mkp )
    Optional
  8. 6 green Leds (https://bit.ly/3EZi5bm )
  9. 3 seven segment displays (https://bit.ly/3ZEHeBz )

Firstly, you will need to solder all the buttons to two jumper one for the ground and the other for a pin. Do this for all the buttons.

Repeat this also for the LEDS if you want to include the LEDS. Also spray paint all the part in the colour you want.

Then to assembly the panel you will have to glue the parts of the together.

There are three-square buttons. To make the buttons, you have to attach the button to the button attachment piece. Then glue these buttons to the correct position on the panel. Repeat this then for the 3 rectangular buttons.

Screw in the four rotary encoders then attach the knobs in the correct position.

Also screw in the three normal buttons.

To connect this to the Mobiflight you will need to use an Arduino mega. Connect one jumper cable of the button to the ground on the mother board. Then connect the other cable to the Arduino pin like in the image above.

To connect the encoder to Arduino you will connect the ground and the 5V to the breadboard. Then connect the DT and SW to their pins if you want to have the button to use in the encoder like we did.

After this, plug in the Arduino and use the code we supplied for the Arduino mega. Then enjoy flying using this project.

The improvement to our project is better cable management as it is quite a mess.

We were not able to get the 7-segment display to work and the LEDS where not bright enough to shine through the buttons like planned.
