Imagine if you will….Coming home after a long day of working in the heat and reaching for the fridge door to grab yourself a frosty cold beer. Sounds refreshing doesn't it? When you pull the door open, the handle falls off but the door stays in place. Well, that's the exact predicament that I had.
After opening the door with out a handle like a mere mortal and grabing my well deserved brew, I knew I had a long night ahead of me. I sat down at the computer, cracked open the beer, opened Fusion 360, and got to work.
It has also been a goal of mine this year to be better about reusing or repairing items instead of tossing it and immediately buying something new. Trying to take the time to hone my design skills, and recycle when I can!
The design that I chose utilizes the existing handle. I removed the top piece with chop saw leaving me with the a flat top on the handle that the sleeve would fit over.
I have included a test ring that you can print to see how the profile of the sleeve fits the profile of your handle without commiting to printing the whole part.
Also included is my Fusion360 design incase any modifications are needed!
The print settings that I used are as follows:
Printer: Ender 3
Filament: PLA
Nozzle: 0.4mm
Infill: 20%
Supports: Yes (may not be required, mine were left on)
Position on Bed: Open side of the sleeve pointing up
