I recently changed my cell phone and was thinking on printing a car support. The models I like more are the gravity ones.
So I choose the models I remix from, but some parts need supports or a good layer fan. Mine is broken, so I have made little modifications for ease of printing.
In online Chinese bazaars, there are funny models that simulate legs and arms.
So I decided to put a picture also.
The arm has been modified so that the slotted hole passes through the part. This way we don't have to worry about bridges.
The feet are modified so that the base completely touches the bed.
The base is modified to give space to the feet, which are now wider at the bottom.
And the cover, is added a plate for the drawing. I choose a simplified variation of Tux picture found here to make extrusion more simple. Other options, can be a strong man or a heart.
Since is for car use, avoid PLA, as it does not withstand the high temperatures that can occur in a car in summer. I used PETG.
For the rear hook, use the models of the original model, there are lots of variants. For the lever I did not find a orientation with no supports.
The rest as the default orientation. For the front plate, if you have a multimaterial capable printer, you can choose different colors, In my case i printed in white and painted with a spray and acrylic.
It is very important to sand the surface, to eliminate the extruded lines. In the first attempt, the spray paint ran through the grooves of the lines as if it were a river. And when painting with a brush, it is even more critical. The use of a primer for plastics seems advisable.
To paint, two techniques have been combined:
Finally, it is advisable to use a coating to protect the surface.
There is an attached manual you can download and print.
Be careful in the last step (5) not to force the tabs.
