Update 2023:

Check version 4.0 of this design here:

Version 3 of my old Design:

https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/48010-squahball-mk3smk3s-vibration-damper

Many Improvements in this Version:

  • Prints Faster: 16% faster than previous version (6h36min vs 7h:55min);
  • Uses Less PETG: 18,5% Less!! (66g vs 81g);
  • Stronger!!: due to the print orientation, now its easy to remove and put back in the Printer without breaking!;
  • You can remove just the ball holder, Excellent for printer Maintenance!!
  • Easier to insert Zip-Tie: Improved path;
  • Possibility for future attachments;

Extras needed:

  • 4 (or 6*) balls, I used the double yellow dot. (absorption is better)
  • 4 (or 6*) zip ties from your MK3S/MK3S+ kit (Optional*).
  • Lubrication tube from your MK3S/MK3S+ kit. (IMPORTANT!! without lubrication you will have a hard time with the tight tolerances…)

*2021/09/20 edit: I have been using for 4 months now, 2 extra supports and balls very close to the Z axis steppers, due to the extra weight in the back, and it has been even better, less overtime deformation of the balls. So if you want print total 6 instead. Also i stopped using the cable ties, absolutely no need for them :D.

Print instructions

Printed in Prusament PETG;
Prusa 0,2 Quality Profile modified: 3 Perimeters; 5Top/bottom Layers; Ensure vertical shell thickness-OFF.
No supports needed!

I recommend putting the zip ties in the parts before you clip them in the printer.

Be sure the balls are 100% in, it's designed to keep them in place.

For assembly use a Tiny bit of the Lubricant Prusa provides between the ball holder and the clip (aka dovetail joint), makes insertion and removal easier!

Keep them as close as possible to the back and front frame respectively, this way there's no chance the zip ties interfere with the linear bearings holders.

Extras needed:

  • 4 balls, I used the double yellow dot.
  • 4 zip ties from your MK3S kit.
  • Lubrication tube from your MK3S/MK3S+ kit. (IMPORTANT!! without lubrication you will have a hard time with the tight tolerances…)
