This 3D fractal sculpture. Although it was created using some fairly simple math, it has a distinctly organic look and feel. In your mind's eye it could be the husk of an entire hive-mind civilization, or a magical relic from ancient times...or maybe it's just an interesting chunk of eye-candy. :)

Might be useful as a mysterious totem or an alien skull in a tabletop or D&D campaign.

Print Settings

Supports:

Yes

Notes:

This is a tricky print, but not the worst of these fractal shapes that I've managed to printed. It will need generous supports - I generally like Cura's Tree supports. Any rough spots left from supports will be inside after fitting two halves together, so ya got that goin' for ya. :) The full version would probably print OK on a resin printer? Haven't tried it tho.

How I Designed This

Created using Mandelbulb 3D, MeshLab, and ZBrush. I made a tutorial for the basic process of turning the fractal shapes into meshes. It's a few years old now but the overall process is the same with current versions of the apps. https://youtu.be/Kpu-DZs9HXU
