The Vita Urbana garden bed from Costco is a popular option for a makeshift whelping box for raising puppies. The aluminum posts posed a risk to the floor, so I modeled up simple pads that could be installed at each connection point, both for corners and extensions.
We discovered that the boards didn't sit quite flush at the top when installed normally, so I decided to extend the padded arms up 2mm inside those walls instead of on the outside to create a simpler design and cleaner look. The posts are hollow all the way up, so I extended the outer walls of that pad up another 5mm to act as an anchor against becoming dislodged.
Here's a link to the Vita Urbana box we used. There are two different varieties, and I believe these pads will only fit this style, not the white style.
