Sacrificial Coupling Gear

Printed out of Polymaker PolyMide PA612-CF (Nylon/Carbon Fiber blend). I designed and printed this coupler that joined a large electric motor to a hydraulic pump for a friend of mine. He owns a factory that produces apple juice and the original coupler broker in the middle of production. They were going to have to wait about a week to get a replacement from Sweden and the down time was going to cost them between $50,000-$70,000.  The 1st photo that shows the blue coupler was an initial prototype made from HTPLA and it did fail. The second version in black was the Polymid. This has been running in the unit for several months as of September 2023. The final photo in white is the original part these replaced.
