Age of Empires 2 - Town Center

THE AGE OF EMPIRES II TOWN CENTER

..is finally on Thingiverse!

After a quick search, I found that AOE architectural models were not readily available online. Age of Empires was a classic computer game back in my childhood and I was a big fan of these models so I decided to design one myself.

This is not an exact model but it's close to an actual replica. It has taken over 5 hours of meticulous work to design this. Please do like and share your makes!

The design could be completed because of numerous pictures of the original model itself on the Internet.

Model Update [09/13/2017] v1.2 Thing Files section updated with plane-cut sections for the feasibility of printing. Another model for the Main Dome of the Town Center added for user who want to print without much supports. After printing all the pieces, you can join the parts using a PLA compatible glue.

Photo Update [09/18/2017] v1.1 Photos obtained from my friend Jeff who printed this in one piece on Tevo Delta with Simply3D as the slicer at 200 micron layer height. The grass bottom is just a small square of artificial turf that fits the model. You can request your own 3-D model for printing by visiting Jeff's hub on 3DHubs. I am sure you will be delighted with his service!

General Model Information

This is a top to down design based on plans from the original model. The model was started from the Roof tops and was completed with supports on the lower legs. It contains 40+ different bodies which were eventually fused together to obtain a complete, one-piece model.

The model fits inside a 15x15x15 box and most readily available, commercial as well as non-commercial printers should manage to print this. There are no fancy details which might cause a problem with perimeter wall thickness or so. Everything (hopefully!) fits inside a hobby printer's limitations.
