This is intended as a house number, which you can mount next to your front door, if you live in a house with a number.

The design is twofold, it consists of a wall plate to be fixed with screws to the wall. The faceplate slides over the rails on the wallmounted plate. If you want to place a new number, different colour, or another font, you can change the plate easily without having to mess with screws. (Easily when the margin is big enough)

The STL file generated by openscad opens 90 degrees rotated from how it fit on the bed, so you may have to rotate before printing.

When printing, introduce a colour change at the appropriate moment in the slicer.

I printed in PLA. Infill was 15%.

I printed with supports for the rail, but afterwards I was curious if it could be printed without and that works better on my mk3s+ model. You may have to fiddle with this a bit. I made a test print by adding negative volumes within prusaslicer to just print the rail bits…

When you want to customise the font, check in openscad which fonts are available via Help → List Fonts. You have to type the font manually.

Update 2025-01-05: now oval backplate is possible. Also best to print in PETG for outdoor use and print without supports to keep the rails clean. (also added oval mountplate to match the oval faceplate)
