BMW E21 Moonroof Slider Replacement

A replacement for the E21 chassis moonroof slider.  The OEM replacement is about $850 since it comes with other parts.  You can't buy it on it's own.  Used ones were impossible to find.  I made this for a 1981 BMW 320is.   This should work with any of the 320's with a moonroof.

I opted to used two M5 nuts instead of heatset inserts.  A .step is provided.

This model is specifically the left hand side one.  I believe they should be mirrored.

To design this part I used a 2D scanner and a ruler to get a dimensionally accurate image of the part. I based my initial sketch off of the image and key measurements such as the slot width.  This allowed me to make a perfect replacement.
