Tired of a bulky, hard to use Vitamix smoothie cup? Don't have kids or pets? Boy do I have the solution for you.
The Ascent series of Vitamix blenders use NFC to prevent an exposed blade from spinning without the cap. Every other Vitamix in existence lacks this feature, so for the smoothie adapter, there is a very large rim to prevent hands/hair from entering the blade. It also makes it a super huge pain in the butt to use.
By printing this part, you are disabling a safety feature. Don't leave an exposed blade on your blender and cut you or your cat's/child's/grandma's fingers off, okay?
Remove the screws/washers from the bottom of the cup adapter (NOT the hex bolts, the security torx screws), and clean the blade unit. Slide the new adapter where the old one was, and reinstall the torx screws, being careful not to strip the plastic thread.
I recommend printing solid, or close to solid in the most inert plastic you have. The base gets a bit warm under heavy use, so probably no PLA, but PETG or ABS should work fine. There are no critical tolerances, so this part is prime for vapor smoothing to allow for easy cleaning.
