Umbrellas not only protect against light but also unintentionally function quite effectively as sails. As soon as a bit more wind picks up, cantilever umbrellas twist and move menacingly around their axis, emitting squeaky, threatening noises. With this upgrade, which can be assembled without tools, wind sensitivity is significantly improved. Simply print and attach all three parts as shown in the pictures. Use a 3mm polypropylene (PP) cord with a core, as commonly used in the camping industry.
Before the upgrade, I used the umbrella maximum in wind speeds of up to approximately 10km/h and had to close it beyond that to prevent it from being destroyed from shaking. With the upgrade, due to the higher stability of the entire umbrella, operation is possible in wind speeds of approximately up to 20-25km/h.
This kit fits, among others, Schneider Valencia type cantilever umbrellas with a size of 250x250cm, which are available very affordably for example at LIDL. Surely, the STL files may also fit other models, but I have not tested this so far. The key measurements can be read from the dimensional drawing to verify your umbrella type.
If other types have been successfully tested, please leave a corresponding comment, thank you :)
