I saw a variety of magnetic straw holders on the web but none offered an embedded application for the standard 6mm by 3mm “3D printing” magnets. They all required them to be pressed in or glued and would come loose or be lost. I wanted something that would be bulletproof and would never come loose. With the ability to pause your prints built into the Bambu Studio and Orca Slicer, with the standard .20 mm layer height you just put a pause in at layer 40 and pop the magnets in place and then keep printing!
I made space for 2 magnets and set the base curvature for 2.625 inch diameter which is your standard spray paint/WD-40/brake cleaner sized can so it would naturally align the straws vertically on the can for you.
I made the magnet holes just a tag snug so they wouldn't be pulled out when the nozzle prints over the top of them.
The straw holes are both set to 2.2mm.
The single straw holder was a minimalistic prototype but I felt that it needed to stick a bit better which is why I re-designed the two piece holder…
