This is a spool holder I designed in OpenSCAD so I could adapt it to various situations. The current version isn't very easily customizable, but I'm including the sourcecode in case you want to dive in.

Instructions

Print out the base, four rollers, and four roller supports. The roller supports should be printed “on their back”. Rollers should be printed flat.

Rollers press fit onto a 5mm axle. I used aluminum rod cut down to length.

Attach the roller supports to the base with 5mm M3 screws or glue.

I added small squares of paper as washers/bearings because I thought I was going to need to add some white lithium grease where the axles rest in the holders. It turned out I didn't need to bother.

My print

I printed this on the 0.25mm DRAFT preset using Hatchbox Matte Gray PLA on a Prusa MINI+.

Customizing

The source code is a mess. You'll probably want remove the parts you don't need.

I might upload a new version with proper customization such as spool width, height adjustment, etc.

One nice thing the code does is it'll try and tell you if the roller spacing and height you've used will result in the filament spool being too tall to fit into the drybox. Unfortunately it's set up for my drybox, so that's another parameter I could add in the customizer in the future.

There's code to print a desiccant tray that would fit the Snapware container I'm using these spool holders with but it's way too big to print on my MINI+ so I'm going to have to figure out some other way to hold my desiccant.
