Found out that XL Buddy board, gets a bit hot while the XL is operating.
Around 85-90 °C, at least that's what the screen told me. I figured, why isn't this pretty beefy board compartment ventilated at all?
Made a new cover, retains the 2 bumps that keep the buddy boards secure in place, got a mount for a 40 x 40 Fan, some Vents and even a small mount for a DC-DC converter board I had on hand. I need that DC-DC converter only because the Fan I'm going to use is 12V only. Currently the Fan is hooked up to an external PSU anyway.
Now the Temperature is around 45°C while operation.
Should be printed in PETG, ABS or ASA.
PLA should be fine, especially if your going have a Fan running while the printer is on.
For mounting the fan i used M3 x 12 screws with a round head. The holes are 2.5mm, did tap em beforehand.
