A remix to do a few things…

1) I closed the vents behind the hygrometer. My view is you want the hygrometer to measure average air humidity in the AMS, not the air right at the silica beads…which will typically read lower levels of humidity.

2) With the same reasoning, I deepened the slot so there is a larger air gap directly behind the hygrometer to allow more representative AMS air access to the hygrometer sensor.

3)I like this design of desiccant holder and snap lid. However (at least with my fingers) I found it a little difficult to remove it from the AMS. I was always worried the lid would come off as that is what I needed to grab onto to remove it. So I remixed it with a tab at the rear that allows you to insert and remove it more easily.

All that being said, realize the cheap round and rectangular hygrometers typically only have a published accuracy of +/- 5%. There are other products available that claim to have much better accuracy.

Print as you would original…some support required for roof of hygrometer gap.

October 6/23, V1: Feedback was that the tab connection point was weak due to the thin walls of the pod. This version (V1) has a reinforcing “cross” for the tab making it stiffer and more durable.

December 27/23: V2: As suggested in comments, added a “dimple” to the end of the tab for better finger grip/control. Still left V1 in case it is preferred.

Model origin

Differences of the remix compared to the original

  1. Deepened gap to allow more representative AMS air to hygrometer sensor.
  2. Closed slots to silica beads directly behind hygrometer for same reason as 1)
  3. Added tab to allow easier manipulation of holder in AMS.

Thanks to MediaMan3D for original design!
