If you liked my wall hanger for fold-up step ladders, and wished that you could stick one of these to the side of your fridge, you're in luck! The remix has arrived.
I've created parameterized models for both disk and rectangular magnets. I have included sample .stl files, but you'll really want to customize to whatever magnets you have. You'll need magnets with at least 20-25lbs of pulling force (more is better) to get this to work well. Buy your magnets from a reputable seller so they are accurately labeled. I like Super Magnet Man and K&J Magnetics. I avoid Amazon because some disreputable sellers lie about their magnet strength.
You'll also need some rubber backing for friction, or else the holder will just slip down the side of the fridge. Guess how I know. I like Cat Tongue Grips products for this, but pretty much any grippy rubber will work.
To customize the holder to work with your magnets, you'll need to download the appropriate .f3d file and use Fusion 360 to change the parameters as appropriate to your magnet. I usually add about .2mm or so tolerance to the actual magnet dimensions. If you've never done this before, give it a try. Here's a Prusa blog entry describing the parameterization process.
Thanks for reading, and I'd love to see your makes!
