Tube Chuck

The tube chuck is for sanding tubes faster and easier.  It will fit up to 8" diameter tubes.  The minimum size is ~2.5".  This clamps on the inside of the tube.  So, you can sand right up to the edge of the tube.

Required parts:

• A grill rotisserie shaft of about 1 foot in length.

• ¼"-20 screws that are 4 inches long and a nut x4
• Aluminum Spacer 3/8" OD x ¼" ID x ½" long x12

• Rubber bands to keep tension on the tighteners.  When loosening the screws the rubber bands will retract the tighteners.  The rubber bands also help with grip with the tube.
• You will also need an axle for the other side of the tube to rest on.  I used a 1.25" PVC pipe that I happened to already have.  Adapter linked below

• One last thing, something to hold the pipe on the opposite side to keep it from wobbling all over.  I made a 3D printed piece that fit inside my 5.5" tube and over the 1.25" PVC pipe that I used as the axle.

I designed/used this for my Level 3 rocket project which is 5.5" diameter.  I fiberglassed the body tubes and wanted an easier and faster way to finish the tubes.

Extra bonus: with this setup, you can use a regular rotisserie motor to turn slowly as things cure/dry.
