Prusa MK4 Triple Spool Holder remix.

Hardware that I used in my setup:

  1. Linear Motion Rod Shaft Guide
  2. 608 2RS Ball Bearings

The front rod location with bearings in place was messing with the extruder in the top Z-axis position preventing it from moving on the X-axis. Moved the axis of the rod's holes a bit deeper.

Rods are not fixed from the inside, so both rod holders could move inside. I was thinking about how to fix it (maybe by extending a hole from the other side and making a surface there to screw it on) but didn't figure out a way with it printing without a lot of support and keeping the outside surface flat.

Update v2:

Railholders were upgraded since they were obstructing the movement in the top Z position. Also in print files (g-codes), the modifiers were added to enforce the hook part (100% infill) since 2mm of the surface was removed.

Model origin

The author remixed this model.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

Tried printing the original model but realized that it would not fit to MK4 to fully hold 3 spools.

Differences:

  • Uses 300mm rods
  • Rod holes do not have stopping points
  • Uses caps on the end to cover rod ends
  • Added bearing spacers
  • Mounts on the extended part of the printer frame
