I love this system, awesome job. I wanted to build something like this for when I need it on the go, and this system really has it all. I want to build two one for me and one for my son, if I can figure out all the electronics. I have figured out most of the tools and where they go, but there are a few mysteries, like what type of hot gun is that, and what about the pegboard? What buck converter is in the knife blade case, I'm assuming only one supplying 9v to soldering iron and to the fan housing? But what electronics are in the bottom of the fan housing, another converter 5v for Neopixel and some type of Arduino to drive it? how about all the holes in front. Lots of questions. Hopefully now that school is out you have time for the BOM and build instructions. I would be glad to help create these. Thanks again for this wonderful system.

Thanks, on the go is exactly what I intended it for. The hot air gun is a Draper Tools butane hot air gun 78775 is the part number, the perfboard is generic one form Adafruit. Regarding the electronics you got that right, I go from 12V to 9V for the iron, and then from 12V to 5V for the NeoPixel matrix and the Trinket M0 to control it. The fan is directly 12V trough a Noctua PWM fan controller. The holes in the front are actually to control both color and brightness of the NeoPixels as well as the fan speed.
Unfortunately my school holds finals at the end of summer so I still don‘t have time to work out the flaws. I intentionally didn‘t publish most of the details because in the current state I don‘t consider the project worth replicating. If you want to go ahead and do so anyway write me directly. I can give tell you everything you need to know and all the CAD files so you can modify the parts to make it work for you.

This is a nice looking system of yours. I was thinking about making a soldering station that would have included the main solder system. I hadn't thought about the ventilation. (*Cough cough*) I have a potential idea for yours. Perhaps the solder suction would help to be on a couple loc-lines also ^-^. I'll continue to think up my own. Thank you for resparking my vaporware project (one that tends to get designed then forgotten) Happy Printing.

Thanks for the nice comment. With the solder suction you mean the fume extraction or solder extraction in the way of a solder pump? Good luck with the vaporware project would love to see an alternative to my project! Happy printing to you too : )
