Threaded nut for motorized gate on driveway

An older motorized gate on a driveway was no longer opening or closing due to a worn out trheaded nut.

The service company who services the gate qoute a repair of 3000,- euro to get the gate working again.

This gave me the challange to design, sketch, model and print the part myself.

It is a 4 start Trapezoidal thread.

Fusion does not have an auto gererate function for a 4 start, it does for 2 start, so I had to model it by hand.

Outside of the model was measured from the original part, this was still in good condition.

after a few tests to see in the threads would work, printed a test model in PETG to see if it would fit and work.

This PETG model is still working fine after months of operation.

Finally printed the final version in Nylon for longer life time.

In the end I had to buy a spool of Nylon and a food dehydrator, way cheaper than the quoted 3000,-.
