A simple, easy to print, reliable hose clamp for 1 ⅞" vacuum hose. Useful to replace one if you had an OEM clip and lost/broke it.

My old hose clamps broke and I was looking for a way to keep the hose on my Rigid NXT Shop Vacuum from unraveling while in storage, and was reminded of the ‘old style’ hook which was commonly found on older model ShopVacs.

The original parts, purchased from other sources, cost upwards of $12 (+shipping!), so I decided to design my own part.

If you have a shop vacuum where the clips had snapped, or one which didn't come with one of these clamps, perhaps you might be interested. (It appears that OEM parts aren't even sold anymore - they're all third-party replicas, so this is an excellent way to source the clip!)

If you print it with standard Prusament, the per-part cost is around 17¢, which is over 82 times less expensive! Think of the savings!

This model is an easy print that requires no supports.

I've taken some specific liberties to modify the original part design to ensure it's much more sturdy and less prone to the common snapping failure mode.

The model is also available at OnShape.
If you need to fine-tune the diameter, simply select ‘Hose Radius’ variable and input the correct size. You can even enter the diameter and divide (i.e. Input 47.6 mm/2).
The clip should then be updated with the new size, ready for you to export and print.

Recommended Print Setup:

I recommend printing in PETG, as it will ensure that it's a bit more resistant to heat and flex, but PLA might work fine too.

I've provided a PrusaSlicer file (*.3mf) which contains a number of suggested print options, but to highlight them here:

  • (At least) 3 perimeters - I used 4
  • 15% infill - Higher infill will ensure the clamp doesnt flex (but may cause it to snap), lower infill will allow more flex at the cost of total durability. 15% seems to be the most reasonable tradeoff point.
  • 0.2 mm Layer Height
