This model allows to firmly mount a Raspberry Pi onto an IKEA SKÅDIS peg board. It is compatible with the Raspberry Pi 1 through 4.

I have never quite trusted mounts that have the Raspberry Pi board just “clip” in place. All the peripherals that can be connected via USB and other ports, plus the possibility to have add-ons via the GPIO pins, can exert quite some stress.

The model here allows you to firmly fix the Raspberry Pi board to four mounting pieces via screws. The mounting pieces will tightly attach to the SKÅDIS peg board.
I have found that the Raspberry Pi does not move, even when many cables are plugged in.

The concession is that you will need additional pieces and tools for this build:

  • Threaded inserts. I am using the Ruthex RX-M2.5x5.7. You may have to alter the model if you are using another brand.
  • M2.5 screws. Any ones that are not too long should be fine.
  • A soldering iron, which you will need in order to put the threaded inserts in their place.

Printing tips:

  • You need to print four pieces: two as given in the 3D model that I provide here, plus two mirror images of the model. Your slicer likely provides an option to mirror the 3D model.
  • Increase the number of perimeters until there is no more conventional infill. This increases the strength of the pieces. It is also necessary for the threaded inserts, I believe.
  • You don't need any support when printing as shown in one of the images (the hole for the threaded insert should be horizontal and on top). Some overhangs will not print perfectly, but you won't see these imperfections once everything is mounted.
  • I find that 0.2 mm is good enough.
