This custom design-build allows Kodak Advantix film to be digitized using the Canon Film Viewer IW-50 (PDF Manual) film scanner.

The model consists of two parts:

  • Part 1 - IW-50 slide-in adapter.  (The industry term for this part is “the ferret”.)
  • Part 2 - Snap-on camera lens-hood.  This model is designed to allow the 52mm Screw-In Aluminum Lens Hood Shade to fit snugly inside the collar while still allowing movement for fine-grain adjustments.  (Please see my other model, “Parameterized Camera Collar,” for a model that is adaptable to variable Lens Hood Shades.)

Part 1, the ferret, is designed to slide snugly into the Canon Film Viewer IW-50's (eBay) keyed mounting rails.  This tight fit prevents light leakage and acts as a secure mounting point for Part 1, the collar.

The ferret and collar should be oriented as shown in the Prusa Slicer Build Plate image, as this orientation does not rely on any support material inside the ferret's slide channel.
