This is a great project, made this to play SF6. Made some changes to the file to make the case for my usecase.

Printed in PLA. 1.5mm layer height 20% infill, but honestly print setting isn't too critical for this.

The wall around the inserts are quite thin, I would recomend putting the PCB on the printed piece while pressing in the inserts to limit how much the plastic can expend and stays small enough to fit the holes on the pcb.

Improvements

  • Wider and longer, the top can act as a palm rest and the case sits better in the lap
  • Uses M3 short heatserts so its not screwing into the plastic
    • Exact Heat sert I am using
      • https://cnckitchen.store/products/gewindeeinsatz-threaded-insert-m3-short-100-stk-pcs
    • Screws are M3x8mm counter sunk screw
      • https://www.amazon.com/Uxcell-a16011300ux0871-M3x8mm-Carbon-Countersunk/dp/B01D8L4XVE/ref=sr_1_8?crid=38OEI5V3GV1J&keywords=m3x8+countersunk+screw&qid=1695331344&sprefix=m3x8+counter%2Caps%2C230&sr=8-8
  • Made the Top half a bit thicker so the buttons are almost flat with the case when pressed
  • Internal PCB support on the bottom half to make the button presses more solid
  • Rear access hole to let you push out the switches with a punch.
    • The button caps likes to break off in the stem, this way the caps can stay one while you remove the switches without disassemble
  • Rounding out edges here and there.

Thanks!

Differences of the remix compared to the original

Enlarged the area for a palm rest, quick access hole on the bottom to push out the switches without pulling the buttons, and heatserts!
