Recently my old gate remote battery died, it was a 12 volt one and I was not able to find a replacement. So I decided to convert it to a USB C rechargeable remote.
This model is a new remote housing for the original PCB (upper left), a USB-C module for Li-Po batteries with a step-up boost converter for the 12 volts needed (bottom left), and a Li-Po battery salvaged from an old portable fan. The lid has a slot for status LEDs and for a push button that I was lying around. You can modify the model to fit any type of button you want.
The original remote PCB was quite big, so the dedicated space should fit most of the other remote PCBs.
I suggest printing with ABS, PLA can deform with the high temperatures that can reach inside your car.
