I made this about a month ago when the driver's side (you could mirror the model if needed) internal door handle on my 2003 Subaru Forester snapped one Sunday morning. At the time it was by far the most ambitious model I had attempted, and I wasn't even sure I could pull it off.
I think it took me about 5 hours start to finish, and I was basically learning Fusion360 as I went.
I started by gluing the broken handle back together, scanning both sides of it with a coin with a known diameter, importing the images into Fusion as canvasses, and tracing them. I extruded the traced faces but then had to model all the detail in between them by taking measurements.
I printed it off and to my amazement it fit in perfectly and worked!
It's not an identical copy of the original handle, it's not rounded, and the handle part sits further out than the original – but it works and it got me out of trouble, which was my main objective. I may come back one day when my skills have improved and tidy it up so it's the same as the original, but I'm still really proud of this model.
I think I printed it in 0.2mm layer height with a 0.6mm nozzle.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
