This set of mounting brackets will help you to clamp and mount your honeycomb storage wall to your desk.

Need extra versions?

The Bottom Mounting bracket is designed to fit my desk. Let me know via a message or comment if you want me to create an updated version that fits your desk!

So, how does this work?

Using an aluminium T-beam, you can support your Honeycomb Storage Wall parts. The T-beam slides into a bottom mounting bracket that is connected to your desk. Then a few middle mounting brackets will connect to your storage wall and keep it in place, using the wall connectors that are provided for the Honeycomb Storage Wall.

I recommend using 1 T-beam for each part of honeycomb storage wall, but you can decide for yourself how many you'd like. I connected the wall parts to the beams between each two wall parts, but you can do this whereever you want.

Printing instructions

Parts can almost all be printed without supports. Some notes:

  • Print “Bottom mount - back” standing up (tip: enable brim)
  • Print “Bottom mount - front part 1” on the large flat side
  • Print “Bottom mount - front part 2” with supports to support the screw connector part
  • Print “Top cap v1” and “Middle mount” as they are, no support needed (tip: enable brim)

Required materials

  • Aluminium T-beam (20 x 20 mm, 1 mm thickness) - length of about 55.5 cm for two a storage wall of 2 wall parts high
  • M3 bolt (12 mm, tapered head) - 1 for each middle mount
  • M3 nut - 1 for each middle mount
  • M4 bolt (8-16 mm, tapered head) - 4 for each bottom mount
  • M4 nut - 4 for each bottom mount

Assembly instructions

A. Attaching bottom mounting brackets:

  1. Screw the M4 bolts in the part Bottom mount - back
  2. Attach “Bottom mount - front part 1” to it by using two M4 nuts (use the upper holes)
  3. Screw the lower two bolts through the “Bottom mount - front part 1”
  4. Put the two connected parts to the edge of the desk
  5. Attach the part “Bottom mount - front part 2” to the desk and attach it to the other parts using the remaining two M4 nuts
  6. Repeat for however many T-beam supports you want to install

B. Cut, place and prepare T-beams

  1. Cut the aluminium T-beams to the right length
  2. Slide the beams in the bottom mounts
  3. Insert an M3 nut in each middle mounting bracket
  4. Slide the middle mounting brackets on the T-beams
  5. Cover the top of each T-beam with a top cap

C. Connect to storage wall parts

  1. Insert the wall connectors in the storage wall
  2. Position the bottom mounting brackets in such a way that their centers align with the centers of the M3 holes in the wall connectors
  3. One by one, insert an M3 screw in the wall connectors and screw the storage wall to the middle mounting brackets

Known issue

At step A2 of the assembly, you will notice the two parts aren't actually screwed together, where the front part is only held in place by the two nuts inside the holes. I will fix this in the model in the future, but feel free to message me if you need it sooner.

Edit

There was a typo in the material requirements. The Aluminium T-beam should not be 85 cm but 55.5 cm.
