This whole thing started out when my partner asked “Can you please get another little knob thing for the pull cord light because this one broke off” that resulted in an indignant response of “I'm not going to go to the shop and get one for pennies when I can spend way too long designing and 3D printing something arguably worse”, and so here we are.
Firstly, I did the massive knobbly ball thing for no other reason than I could and I thought it would be funny. In my defence, it was kinda funny. Also, it glows! Again, for no real reason other than I had glow in the dark filament loaded at the time and couldn't be bothered swapping it out.
After making some more reasonable sized bits to go on the end, I realised actually this could be useful! So I made some other bits. Two main bodies that go on the end of cords - 5mm and 6mm holes, a coupler so you can attach them together or make a loop, and end cap so you can keep them clean and ready to be attached to whichever accessory you want without having to worry about it being in your bag or pocket.
Some of them will need support, the knobbly ball and the hook for sure - this is still a bit of a work in progress and I'm going to update this when I finish making new parts. The fit between the parts suits me and my printer, but if you want to make it looser or tighter I would recommend altering the X & Y scales of the part the string goes into in your slicer of choice.
