Since I was a child, I was always attracted to puzzles that can be assembled in different ways, therefore, when I saw this Keythedral game, intermediately I though to create a puzzle.
Few weeks ago I came across 1-49 puzzle, that revived the idea of creating a mix between the two. The square pillars from the Keythedral game became octagonal pillars. The puzzle was designed in Fusion 360 from scratch.
The goal of the puzzle is to assemble all 13 pieces, accommodating them in the space between the pillars and corridors that exist in the base.
A hint sheet is included, it can be optionally printed and placed upside down over the base when playing.
From the description of the 1-49 puzzle, it seems it has at least 49 solutions, you are invited to show them.
I may post in the future more hint sheets that can be printed.
Note: The hint sheet is mirrored on purpose for not showing the solution when placed over the base, for discovering the hint, the best is to put it against a source of light, then you can see the lines well.
Storing the hint sheet is in the base with the lines facing the base, therefore the lines stay hidden.
The model is composed by 15 parts which are the base, a hint sheet and 13 pieces.
There are two versions of the pieces, you need to select only one version:
Puzzle Regular Pieces
directory)Puzzle Taller Pieces
directory)No special requirements exist for printing the parts. The model was designed that no supports are required.
I printed the parts in eSUN PLA+ using 2 different colors but that is a personal selection, using a color change twice. Feel free to use your imagination for which color to use.
The filament budget for the base/hint and normal sized pieces is:
Part | Print Time | Filament used |
Base | 6:20 hr | 25.89m / 77.84gr |
Hint Sheet | 0:37 hr | 1.32m / 3.97gr |
Per Piece (Multiply by 13 for all) | 0:20 hr x 13 | 1.29m / 3.88gr x 13 |
Totals: | 7:17 hr | 43.98m / 132.25gr |
The above was collected from Prusa Slicer before each print, taking into consideration that I used a 0.4mm nozzle, 0.2 layer height and 15% infill.
Note: The hint sheet is very thin, it is composed only by two 0.2 layers.
The model includes parts that need to be assembled in different positions, therefore a 0.5mm tolerance was added, hope this tolerance is enough for all kind of printers.
Drop me a note if you need a model with tighter or loose tolerances and I will be happy to model it for you.
