I bought the Aeropress back before they came out with a travel version, but the only thing I ever wanted it for was travel. I was shocked at how poorly designed it was for packing. You need to protect the rubber stopper by not storing it compressed inside the main tube, but if it is stuck all the way through, it doesn't let you attach the filter holder grille. So I built this adapter ring. It works both for storage inside the original hexagonal box, and for taking just the minimum viable Aeropress tools when traveling. I just bring the plunger, outer tube, filter holder grille, and of course the travel ring. A stock of filters can be put inside the plunger. This is all you need if you're staying somewhere with cups and spoons and such.

This is one of my first successful finished designs, from several years ago. I have used it several times, and it takes the Aeropress from being annoying and awkward to pack, to exactly what I bought it for.
