This is not an original idea, but the model is mine. It is a business card holder for holding a blank aluminum business card in position for laser engraving. In this case, it holds it firmly in the slots of the Ortur laser engraving platform. NOT the honeycomb base. It makes aligning easy, in that you only have to align the first one, it's already square with the laser if the platform is, and you can swap out cards until you're tired of babysitting your laser.
I've already used it several times now, with full air-assist on, and I've had no problem with cards getting blown around. The retaining lip is low enough that the plastic sheld can skate over it when the laser is focused properly using the kickstand. In its current configuration, it moves the left-hand edge of the card to the right 35 mm, and the near edge of the card backward 5 mm.
Feel free to modify it. In Blender, the bits that protrude down into the slotted base and hold it steady, all hang below 0.0 Z-axis. Chop those off, by setting the bottom faces to Z=0.0, and you have something that already has wings to allow it to be taped to a flat surface.
Or, you might find the retaining bits to be useful for holding another work steady and consistent.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
