This is a omni directional wind turbine designed to be installed outdoors on the rails of your deck or just stick it in a potted plant.

This design will catch wind from all directions and the turbine does not have to face the wind.

I have taken inspiration from this build (https://www.printables.com/model/517017-vertical-garden-pinwheel). I made it from scratch using onshape and the model is available here . Feel free to take a copy and add your own creative updates.

I printed in PLA which may not be ideal as it will absorb moisture and degrade in heat and sunlight.  It took about 15 hours to print in all.

You will need 2 608zz bearing and that can be found here. I soaked the bearing in wd40 to remove some of the grease so that it spins more freely.

Print the main turbine with support and skirt and the staff with 100% infill for strength.

You will need some superglue to stick the staff on the base, cap and also might need some around the bearing to the turbine depending on your printers tolerance. The cap is to prevent water from entering the bearings.

You can use some zip ties to hold the stand firmly on a deck rail as in the picture.

Here is a video of the turbine in action on a windy day
