Description

PDF

I bought the reRouter CM4 from Seeed Studio, but the case was out of stock, so I designed my own.

This particular board can get pretty hot, so I added a 30mm fan slot to the side of the case and some holes close to where the CM4 should be.

Update (13/02/2024): I've made a few fixes to the mesh files and some minor spacing tweaks and reuploaded the STLs.

Update (06/07/2024): I made a 10-inch rack mount version, grab it here.

Materials

  • 8x M2.5 Thread Inserts (4x for the feet, 4x for the cover).
  • 8x M2.5 screws 6mm (For cover and feet).
  • 4x M2.5 screws 8mm (For securing the CM4 in place).
  • 4x screws and nuts for the cooler, but the size depends on your fan dimensions.
  • The reRouter CM4.
  • A CM4. Take a look at https://rpilocator.com/ to find one.
  • Some passive cooling for the CM4, like the one from Waveshare.

Assembly

  • Add the thread inserts to the case.
  • Install the 30mm fan.
  • If you're using the passive cooler from Waveshare:
    • Pop the CM4 into the reRouter.
    • Screw it in using the spacers from the passive cooler, leaving the screw holes facing upwards.
    • Insert the thermal pads.
    • Insert the passive cooler, and screw it in place. It should look like the picture below.

  • Secure the carrier board into the case by adding 4 M2.5 screws in the bottom.

  • Connect the fan to the USB3 header (Schematics here)
  • Close the case with the other 4 M2.5 screws.
  • Install the feet with 4 M2.5 screws.
