Introduction to the Cheese Stick:

Hello! I present version one of the Cheese Stick! The print paired with some ¼-20 heat pressed inserts will allow you to pair a wireless follow focus and handle and hang them from a lanyard. Really, any accessory that attaches using a ¼-20 screw can attach to it.

The Cheese Stick features 18mm hole spacing that is compatible with SmallRig handle mounts. Each hole is currently 8mm in diameter as specified by the heat pressed inserts I used, which I picked up on Amazon

In this case I am mounting a Tilta Nucleus Nano controller, and a custom handle by Big John Blades (John Dingman) that uses SmallRig hardware.

Problems with v1/Changes for v2:

I wanted to get v1 out there since I found it so useful but I also want to disclose changes I am working on for v2, so if you're interested keep your eye out for v2.

  1. Too narrow - right now v1 is a little too narrow, which limits to you using the heat pressed inserts I used on one side at a time. The Cheese Stick would be even more flexible with heat pressed inserts/threads available in all holes on both sides. v2 will address this by being a few millimeters thicker.
  2. Lanyard attachment - I haven't selected a good lanyard yet, and I haven't decided on a good, secure way to attach it. It needs to be super sturdy as the value of what you're attaching could be relatively high. Hopefully I'll be able to have this worked out for v2.
  3. Branding - I want this thing to somehow say “Cheese Stick”  on it, which I think would be cool. Maybe even a little logo?

Instructions

Pretty basic for now!

  1. Print in PETG or ABS with the holes orientated so they're facing up. I printed this with no supports (as there are no overhangs), four (4) perimeters, 50% infill.
  2. Insert heat pressed inserts per their instructions on your preferred holes and sides (this will be addressed better in v2).

Good luck, and happy filmmaking!
