nice solution, I actually did disassemble the whole extruder, carefully bent the spring plate (the locking plate) in a way that it would get the gears closer, I identified that in my case at least the issue was that they were far enough for it to loose grip, after bending the grip is way stronger and just yesterday had a 13hs print (of around 400grams of PETG), and it went with absolutely no issues. I've ordered the new revision of the extruder though but I think I'm not going to touch much unless it bothers again.

Thinking of trying this on my Extruder. I don't have ABS, would PETG work too for the Sleeve?

So if I understand correctly, I have to get 2x M3x8 Bolts, and 4x M3 washers. Undo the red bolts, slip the Sleeves onto the M3x8 Bolts, then a washer, then the Gears, then another washer. Then you bolt it back in place and, that's it, right?

Thanks for this. (edited)

@BloodSteyn I would recommend abs or asa at least, because extruder gets quite hot during printing. especially if you use the top cover. But you don't have to use the printed part. Just bolts and washers will do. what really matters is you tighten the gears properly make sure they don't wiggle around with some force.

@Klemhax_417468 Thanks, I had some small washers, so all I did was install them under the gears using the existing screws, and it worked like a charm, eradicated the under extrusion issues like magic. Thanks to your design's guidance. :)
Well, until my K1's Print Head PCB decided to take up smoking.

Does this fix apply on a K1 Max with the non shiny extruder back plate?

@DavidWagner_1196044 mine hasn't arrived yet, waiting for it, so cant be sure. but it should work. Shape and mechanic is pretty much the same.

@Klemhax_417468
I think the theory is the Max shipped out with a stronger back plate that isn't flexing causing the issue. I got mine with a non shiny plate and so far almost issue free with the hyper PLA only done a few prints and only PLA IDK on other yet.

I've tried a few different fixes before I get the upgraded extruder. This one is the best solution so far. Thank you.

Could you please add a few more images? not quite getting the assembly process. Thanks in advance.

@RetroD i will add it as soon as i can. but i can explain simply if you like. (m3x8)Bolt + Sleeve + Washer + Gear + Washer + Base.
both of them in this order.
