Why remix it?

Remix based off of AmanozyakuLAB's Yajirobe model in Thingiverse because the original was huge, and also lop-sided in its balance because of the asymmetry. So I made this symmetrical version that uses the nicer smooth wings which results in a balancing bird toy that would make Thanos proud. Also messed a little with the proportions to try to flatten the back and tail a little.

Great toy for kids to learn to balance, also fun just to grab it by the body and pretend it's flying.

Picture shows rose gold silk PLA print at 50%, on its back, used tree supports, and finished with a soldering iron to smooth out the print.

Print settings

Material
  • Any material works, I used PLA
Infill
  • 10% makes for a pretty strong print
Supports
  • Are a must
  • Use your preferred method, I used tree supports (concentric 50º to increase speed and reduce waste)
  • Bird isn't fragile so it's easy to knock off the supports.
Size
  • Looks really impressive and beautiful at 100% (about 10-11 hours)
  • 75% is probably the best between not too small but not giant (and prints faster).
  • Works well at 50% too (under 3 hours), about the size of the palm of your hand.
Quality
  • I used standard quality and it came out great at full size.
  • You may want fine quality for 50% to avoid needing post-processing.
Bed Orientation
  • Print it on its back (beak up) to reduce print time greatly.
  • Print it on its belly (beak down) to ensure the top of the model doesn't require a lot of cleanup since that's the side most people will see.

Happy printing!
