Printing

Getting the planter watertight may be challenging. You may try the following:

  • Use 100 % infill
  • Enable Ironing
  • Calibrate your extrusion rate for the filament you want to use or use a slight over extrusion
  • Use a heat gun for post processing

How to Get Started:

To start growing e.g herbs from seeds, follow these steps:

Select the Herb Seeds: Choose the herbs you want to grow. Some popular options for hydroponic herb gardens include basil, mint, parsley, and cilantro. Purchase high-quality seeds from a reputable source or use seeds saved from previous plants.

Germinate the Seeds: Start by germinating the seeds before transferring them to the hydroponic system. Place the seeds between damp paper towels and keep them in a warm area. Check the towels regularly to ensure they stay moist, but not soaked. After a few days, the seeds will begin to sprout.

Prepare the Hydroponic System: Set up your hydroponic system according to its specific instructions and ensure you have all the necessary components such as a water reservoir, net pots, growing medium, and nutrient solution.

Fill Net Pots with Growing Medium: Fill the net pots with an appropriate growing medium, such as perlite, coconut coir, or rockwool cubes. Moisten the growing medium before placing it in the net pots to ensure proper hydration.

Transplant the Seedlings: Once the seeds have germinated and developed small roots and leaves, carefully transfer each seedling to a separate net pot. Gently place the root portion of the seedling into the growing medium, ensuring it is secure and surrounded by the medium.

Provide Adequate Lighting: Place the newly transplanted seedlings under suitable lighting conditions. Ideally, use fluorescent grow lights or LED lights specifically designed for plant growth. Ensure the lights are positioned at an appropriate distance from the seedlings to prevent burning or stretching.

Monitor and Adjust Conditions: Check the hydroponic system regularly to ensure that the nutrient solution is at the correct pH and nutrient levels. Monitor the moisture content of the growing medium and adjust watering if necessary. Maintain the appropriate temperature and humidity levels for healthy plant growth.

Gradually Introduce Nutrient Solution: Initially, provide the seedlings with plain, pH-balanced water for hydration. After the seedlings have established their roots in the hydroponic system, gradually introduce a diluted nutrient solution. Follow the instructions provided with the specific nutrient solution to ensure proper mixing ratios.

Maintain Ideal Growing Conditions: Monitor the herbs' growth and health regularly. Ensure they receive sufficient light, water, and nutrients. Adjust the lighting duration and intensity as the plants grow. Prune the plants to encourage bushier growth and prevent overcrowding.

Harvest and Enjoy: Harvest the herbs when they reach the desired size. Trim the leaves or stems, leaving enough foliage for the plant to continue growing. Rinse the harvested herbs and enjoy them fresh or store them appropriately for later use.
