I wanted to add some more character to my printer so I came up with these funny glasses. You can stick two 20mm diameter googly eyes, one into each divot, to make it look like your printer has glasses on!
I would recommend cutting the googly eyes open with a pen knife or scissors around the edge so that you can glue the black centres in place. I originally tried this without gluing and it makes an annoying vibration noise when the head moves.
This isn't the most 3D printer friendly model, but I found it printed best for me in the orientation shown in the pictures. You might want to break the model into even more pieces though in your slicer if you want to make it easier to print, then glue them back together once finished printing.
I used the 0.25mm layer height (DRAFT in PrusaSlicer) which gave me decent results.
I used superglue for sticking the googly eyes and the arms of the glasses, but hot glue might work better because in the pictures you can see that the fumes from the superglue left a frost on the inside of the googly eyes.
For mounting it to the printer, there are two diagonal holes in the heatsink on the right side of the print head, you can use two of the small M3 x 8 screws included in your spares bag if you built the printer yourself.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
