In the Messel pit, close to Frankfurt, Germany, the so-called "Urpferd", the predecessor of nowadays horses was found. Fossils of the Messel pit are exhibited in various places, the most famous specimen is displayed in Darmstadt, see https://www.hlmd.de/ausstellungen/aktuell/detail/detail/current/25-jahre-unesco-weltnaturerbe.html
I took a photograph by Wolfgang Fuhrmannek and played with various filters of my image manipulation programm in order to get a picture which can be 3D-printed as lithophane. The actual conversion was done by https://imagetostl.com/
The intended audience are school children who cannot (yet) travel to that museum, or visually impared persons, who would like to feel the little horse from Messel.
You might want to add a layer or two in your slicer. My version is designed to print on fabric, see e.g. the tutorial https://www.geeetech.com/blog/2018/02/3d-printing-on-fabric-is-easier-than-you-think/
You can learn more about the Messel pit at https://www.grube-messel.de/ (website is in German). The Wikipedia page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messel_pit is also informative, but lacking quite a bit of information.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
