While not technically a remix of Andreuha's design (I ended up re-modeling from scratch) it was heavily inspired by their 50mm fan design, so I've flagged it as a remix.
As soon as I plugged in my new-to-me X540 network card, the squeal of the heatsink fan made it clear that I would want to replace the fan on this card before I even think about installing it. Only problem was, the fan itself was a custom inset model rather than a standard fan.
The heatsink had screwholes for this fan, and as I saw in Andreuha's design, I could leverage those holes to hold an adapter to the actual fan size I wanted. I initially tried editing the file they provided, but ended opting to re-model after I had a few issues.
Assembly:
I added 4 fan mounting holes to my adapter plate such that the fan would be mounted from the bottom using standard fan screws. In this case though, it did become a little more difficult to screw the adapter into the original holes to mount the fan to the heatsink. (I had to screw them in between fan blades) Still, I did manage to get a satisfactory hold on them.
The author remixed this model.
