Description

Hi, this is 3D printable model of flying propeller toy.

But this one is self-winding. It is fun and very convenient. After every launch rubber band winds mechanism and it's immediately ready for another launch, just find the propeller ;).

In addition to the printed parts (see files), you will also need a rubber band and string (about 35cm long). Tweezers, scissors and CA glue (super glue) will also come in handy.

Video:

Assembly (also in the video):

  1. glue crown to the top of the shaft
  2. pass the string through the small hole of the shaft
  3. make knot at the end of the string (crown side) and insert it to the string-bead (glue string on both sides of the bead)
  4. pass the other side of the string in the center hole of body and then out through one of the upper holes of the body
  5. pull the shaft through the center hole all the way down
  6. tie the handle and drip glue on the knot for sure
  7. now insert the rubber band through the end hole of the shaft and pull out the ends of rubber band through lower opening of the body
  8. then hook up the end cap on the both ends of the rubber band
  9. perform initial winding of mechanism with end cap counterclockwise (the handle will be slowly pulled to the body)
  10. during winding the cap is pulled from below to the body, where it is secured with body teeth so it can no longer unwind
  11. done ... now just place the propeller on the crown and pull the handle ;)

Printing:

Everything is printed without supports and does not need any special settings.

Although I printed also propellers with 0,2mm layerheight (and it printed fine) it might be better to use smaller step due to bigger blade overhangs on the outer edge. Try to use 0,15mm or 0,1mm layer height for the propellers.

Tips:

  1. Try both propellers - there is 3 blade and also 4 blade version in the files.
  2. Try flying to the target. Take some cardboard box and place it away from you. Try to put the propeller in.
  3. Print onother one for your friend and pass the propeller to each other.
