Real, race-spec off-road racing vehicles typically have a rear-facing amber “anti-collision lamp” that is required to be illuminated any time the vehicle is on the racecourse, for the primary purpose of alerting other drivers to the presence of the vehicle. This is especially important when the vehicle is stopped for repairs or other reasons.

I have a 1/10 scale Tamiya RC offroad truck, and I thought it would be a nice touch of realism to create a little “anti-collision lamp” of my own that will illuminate whenever the vehicle is switched “on".

This model accommodates three 5mm LEDs, typically amber in colour, and they should be a press-fit into the holes. After fitting LEDs, a little bit of putty or other putty-like material can be used to round out the back and block light from exiting the rear of the housing (I had some urethane windshield glue handy, and that worked really well.)

I'll leave the exact details of wiring and powering these lights to the reader (I just wired mine up to be powered by an unused channel on the receiver, which typically provides +5V).

Attaches to a RC car body easily with servo tape (double-sided adhesive foam tape).
