Does this also include a way to store filament spools?
Does this also include a way to store filament spools?
@Allthingstl d'oh, skipped right past it! Thanks!
@Allthingstl Stupid answer. It is a matter of principe. There are 100s of sites selling stuff. Go there!
@IngeH_193540 I am not sure if you know but this site has "stuff" for sale and you get the entire collection for $10, vs paying for individual items. This is a much better deal, and that is why I chose printables. I am not sure what you mean by go there. I think you need to figure out what you need and want.
My small scale test installation is up. I am now printing the big version for the garage. These are great, and there is nothing like it if you have Ryobi tools!
That said, some feedback on the way to perfection:
* I am not an expert on bolts, but I think machine bolts taper a bit at the end (or maybe only the thread tapers, or the hole?). This makes them self-center a bit when you put them near the hole. These screws should do that.
* The inserts for mounting to the wall need to be a little less thick than plates. If you are mounting this onto drywall, you will have a wall anchor that sticks out by about 1mm, so you can't mount flush to the wall. It would be easy to make the inserts just 1mm less deep.
* When you put multiple plates next to each other and you combine them with the connectors like I did, the distance between the screw holes on the adjacent plates only kind of works out, and you have to rotate the plates around until you find an orientation that fits. The plates should be 100% symmetric, with the distance to the edge such that you can put two plates next to each other with perfect fit.
* In general, I don't understand why the plates aren't symmetric. The hex holes seem a little offset to the side? If they were symmetric, these holes could be used for additional stability and orientation of the tool holders as well.
* For the hex cup in the back in my picture, there is a hole to stick a screwdriver through, but it is too small. That thing was surprisingly hard to mount. Why aren't the hexes the same size as the hexes for the other one?
Some bonus ideas that are a little more complicated:
* There should be mounting inserts that go into the screw holes as well as the hex holes.
* This one would be next-level nice: For the large cup holders, it's a huge pain to get the screws in. You could modify the holders slightly so that once a screw is in, it won't fall out by itself. Maybe a little lip, or a little piece that bends temporarily, would make it possible to insert a screw and it'll just float there until someone comes along with a screwdriver.
* When I do a project around the house, the tools need to come to the project, rather than the other way around. I often need to grab a whole set, and I don't know exactly which ones. It would be great to have a way that I could just un-hook all metric wrenches and take them all with me at once. Same for allen wrenches, etc.
Will post pictures of the garage installation in a few days!
@DirkGroenevel_879932 I have questions about your questions! : ) I will message you privately and get it all figured out for you.
I printed the dowels, but they come out much too small. Did I grab the wrong dowel somewhere? What size dowel would I need if I just buy them?
@DirkGroenevel_879932 Hey Dirk! The dowels will print differently for each printer. They are only used for alignment and are not really needed. I stopped using them as I can just align the top and side holes. Thanks for being a member!!
Is wonder is 10% infill enough for the wall plates, or what do you use?
@Allthingstl Thanks... I'll go 15% as well - you only save 10 grams of filament stepping down to 10% printing the 220x220 plate... Print time 7h25 - uhh its going to take some time printing 6-9 plates ;)
@HM_51415 Yea, it does take some time but it’s well worth it plus now you can make them build outward. I am working on tool holders that will hang down and sit on top. I have three printers so it goes faster : ). I start them when I go to sleep and they are done when I get up. Please keep me updated or let me know if you have any questions.
@DoTechStuff_1273987 I am not sure if you know but there are tension screw points that go into the hex part of the Screw Wall so that you don't lose any mounting space. It's under the V2 screw section. The battery attachment looks great! Please add it as a remix!
What are the dimensions between holes so we can make our accessories fit it? (edited)
What if I wanted to buy the design for a one-off fee? Why would I need to pay monthly?
It's almost like I'm renting your design for life...
It's not that I'm against monetisation, I just feel like subscription is a wrong model here, because the actual transfer of value happens only once, in the very beginning.
Also all similar systems are free, how do you justify paying for this one? Where is the continued stream of the added value that is not present elsewhere and is unique for this particular design? (edited)
@fkirill_175350 Do not forget about the fact that you can sign up for 1 month and then cancel the subscription, there is no need to keep on paying for what you have already printed :)
whats the screw specs????
@Putz420_335688 10mm screw width by 14mm heights!!!!
Great design, just started to print a few things out to figure out my build and ran into an issue. I printed Screw_Wall_Mount_v1 in hopes to use that with the screw_wall_bracket-v0.3 to secure v2 plates to each other and the wall together at the same time. Seems the Screw_Wall_Mount_v1 is smaller than v2 plate holes?
I also just printed out screws and the large one seems to be a bit to small for v2 plate holes. I am able to push and pull them out and they don't hold their position when getting nice and tight like they are just a a tiny bit to small....No issues with the small screws. Anyone else had this issue? (edited)
Over all a great print, However I tool one star off for the "dowel" design the nozzle kept knocking over them over even with a raft.
1. 5/32 x 12in Acrylic Dowel Rods found on Amazon is what I used as a alternative
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BZGSCKK1?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1
2. Parts screw_wall_bracket_4_v3 and screw_wall_bracket-v0 I was unable to align them up and get the screw in. The 4 only would align 3 of the holes * having said that it may not be because of the design I put mine in a U shape to sit next to my storage racks
Now I just need to find some Gridfinity round or square to clean off the hobby bench cleaned up
@Smaug_353550 where'd you get the drawers from?
@Nathan22211 sorry about missing this the storage drawers was designed by my son. the rack was part of PaintPal Studio kick starter I pulled the frame into 3D builder and plugged up all the holes with a file my son made doing a merge
Update 12/28/2023: I asked if he can make me a "Detail Paintbrush Set" with triangle handles (9mm I.D.). He created one, another thank you I owe you! (**SEE NEW UPDATED PHOTO WITH PAINT BRUSHES**)
WHAT A GREAT DESIGN! Have been printing over the past week, so here is several pictures I took over the build process. I'm still adding his print's as I find what I need, he's even taken a few request and designed them fast. I have had a peek on his up and coming designs that will be released over time and they are an actual need. Thanks for all your help. (edited)
@SoCalNorseGod_153833 Thank you sooo much for the kind words, it looks fantastic!!
