I designed this for displaying the Hamilton Musical Quill Pen. It's based upon 18th century inkwells circa 1776.

I modeled this for my wife who wanted a way of displaying the Quill Pen that we purchased a souvenir after watching Hamilton on stage for the first time.  Since it is a quill pen, I thought it only right to use an Inkwell for holding said pen.

Modeling & Printing

I designed and modeled it after similar inkwells that were in use in North America during Hamilton's life.  Rather than something very ornate, I went for something that might be used by middle class Americans like Hamilton himself.

I created the model in Fusion 360, and printed it on my FLSUN V400 in plain white eSUN PLA+ with a 0.4 nozzle and 0.20 layer height.

Post-Processing

I lightly sanded the model down with three different grits of sandpaper.  Then, I hit it with two coats of Behr's Space Gray Paint & Primer spray paint.

Lastly, my wife did an excellent job painting it with acrylic paint to look like brass.  She also dry-brushed on some black for weathering.
