Update: just took this on a flight and survived a couple bumps and bruises. No need for CF nylon
I haven't seen any method of carrying a voron 0 around with a single hand… so I designed a handle myself. It is fully printable on a voron 0 (which I did) and assembles. I recommend something more tough like carbon fibre nylon but until I figure out how to print it properly I'll use the current PETG handle (which works well).
Yes, it really is strong enough even with PETG. More perimeters could be used if you want
BOM:
M3x8 SHCS or BHCS *8
M3 hex nuts *4
M3x4 heatset inserts *4
(printed) Side *2
(printed) Grip *1
Print settings:
5-7 perimeters
50% grid infill
6 top and bottom layers
Print orientation as provided
NO SUPPORTS!
Optional: 0.1mm layer height for grip to make it more comfortable to hold
STEP file included if you want to modify it to your liking, especially if you want a smaller/larger grip.
Assembly:
Put 4 M3x4 heatset inserts into the holes of the grip
Use 4 M3x8 screws to attach both sides like this:
To attach to printer:
Loosen and slide out the panel clips
Loosen front and rear screws holding the left and right horizontal extrusions and slide them upwards
Preload 2 m3 nuts into the top of both
Reassemble tophat
Use another 4 M3x8 to attach to frame through holes on the side
TODO: make a unibody version to be printed on a larger printer
