QIDI - X-PLUS3 - X-MAX3 - Side Spool Holder Mounts

Update: (8/21/2023) - 

1. Added new version for x-Max 3 - with spool holder mount at 90deg - note that this will position the desiccant well at the bottom ONLY if the holder is mounted on the right side of the printer. Also reduced the insertion depth into the side handle by 4mm
2. Replaced the x-Max 3 versions of 35deg and 45deg with new versions with the side handle mount insertion depth reduced by 4mm

Update: Added 2 versions (untested) for x-Max 3. One places the dry box mount at 35deg angle and the other places it at 45deg. The x-PLUS3 mount is at 35deg angle - but final angle when mounted is 45deg because the x-PLUS3 handles have a 10deg slope. The x-Max 3 side handles are a flat 0 angle - so the 45deg angle mount would place the side holder at 45deg (matching the x-PLUS3).

Side mount spool holder for Qidi X-Plus3

Mounts into the hand hold on the right side. (Simply mirror the image in the slicer to mount to the left side - mounting on the left side removes the need for the additional bowden tube retainer.)

Steps to mount:

1. Print the side spool mount (and bowden retainer if mounting on the right side)
2. Insert into side handle slot
3. Drill 1/8" hole using the mount as the guide
4. Secure with 3mm x 10mm bolt and 3mm nylock nut (on the inside of the chamber)
5. Remove original spool holder tube from the back of the X-Plus3 and insert into the new side spool mount
6. Insert the bowden retainer into the original slot on the back used for the spool holder tube
7. Run a bowden tube from the filament runout sensor through the bowden retainer and around the side to the filament spool (or the dry box)

Printing tips

Use organic supports as shown in the picture for the spool mount

Use snug supports as shown for the bowden retainer 

Note the slicer orientation photos. This orientation keeps the spool holder insertion slot clean and is intended allow the original spool holder to slide into place with the least amount of interference.
