This project has the objective to divide the drawers into multiple removable containers, effectively multiplying the available number of slots.

Could you achieve the same just printing divider walls to slide in the built in slots? Not really. You risk getting everything mixed up if a wall displaces a bit. Moreover, you cannot extract just one of the partitions, you need to carefully transport the whole drawer. That said, if you only want walls, you can find many designs here on Printables, which are also much faster to print.

Can you use just the containers without the divider? For sure, if you don’t mind having your containers just loosely put inside the drawer. I mostly do that, since I don’t mind and since the divider can take the same time to print as the full set of containers if you use vase mode.

If you look for the Stanley small drawers version: https://www.printables.com/model/492444-stanley-small-drawers-removable-dividers

Print settings:

  • For the dividers: at least 4 walls with 0.4mm layer width
  • For the containers: you can choose if you want to use vase mode with a high line width or as much walls as you want with zero infill and zero top layers.

Suggested settings for the containers/my print settings:

  • Vase mode: ON
  • Line width: 0.8mm (you can totally do it with 0.4mm nozzle, just watch your speed!)
  • Bottom layers: 5
  • External wall speed: 40mm/s (watch the flow rate and keep it in a good spot for your hotend)
  • Temperature: T+5°C (you might need to increase your default temperature by 5 degrees to have a good, consistent extrusion of these very wide lines)
