Chicken Mite Trap

Chicken mites spread very quickly and extensively, especially in summer, and can be dangerous for the animals. To solve the problem there are some solutions to buy, but these are usually very expensive or not stable enough if you have several chickens.

That's why I designed this mite trap, which is attached with an M10 thread to keep 10 Chicken.

The basic function is that the mites have to pass through the container, which is filled with oil, on their way to the chicken perch, causing the mites to die.

The lid and casing can be printed from any solid material, the insert from TPU or PP as these do not leak (without the insert, the oil will run out after a few hours)

function of the individual parts:

casing: brings stability to the construction, suitable hole for the threaded rod

lid: protects against dust falling inside

insert: holds the oil (can be replaced with spray film if you don't have tpu)

note: test the insert for leaks before assembly

For the installation you can use the picture as a guide, in principle the mites must not get to the perch in any other way than through the container.

Finally: check the mite trap regularly for mites and whether it is leaking.
