I watched the makers muse video “Attach anything to anything else using 3D Printing!” and was inspired to use some of his tips to solve a problem I had.
I purchased a filament dryer box that lets me use the spool while it is drying. I just looped the filament over the original spool holder, but it would come off if the Z axis rose too high. I printed this to hold it in place.
There are more elegant solutions for guiding filament over the side of the printer, but this requires a lot less assembly.
I used a 16mm M6-1.0 bolt and nut to fasten it closed. I'm including the fusion360 file in case you want to modify it to work with a different fastener.
